The Auburn Gresham Gold Camp runs Monday – Thursday from July 10 – August 3, 2017 at Westcott elementary in Auburn Gresham.

Salary: $3150 including all planning/prep time

Position Time Period Expectations: June 15 – August 9, 2017.

  • July 6th -7th 9:00 – 2:00 PM for training with entire AG Gold camp staff.
  • July 10th – August 3rd 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM with occasional extension to 3:00 PM on Excursion days.
  • Be available for a 1 hour debrief after the conclusion of camp to be scheduled on August 7th-9th.

Camp Description:

The Auburn Gresham (AG) Gold Camp is a K-3rd grade (Freedom School) academic and enrichment summer camp that implements strategic reading and math interventions to curb summer learning loss and close the achievement gap. AG-GOLD campers will discover new experiences in a safe environment giving them the freedom to explore who they really are, try new activities and create meaningful friendships. AG-Gold campers experience personal development through art, drama, sports and learning excursions that emphasize character development, merited self-esteem, and active learning. The AG Gold camp is run in partnership with Illinois State University Summer Teacher Education Partnership for Urban Preparation (STEP-UP) program. Illinois State University (ISU) teacher education students serve as STEP-UP fellows at the camp under the direction of the Lead Classroom Teacher.

Job Description:

The AG Gold Camp Lead Classroom Teacher (LCT) is the lead teacher for Math for the AG Gold camp which will include:

  • Responsible for two blocks of Math instruction for two mixed grade classrooms (K-1 & 2-3) each day.
  • A 4-week Math curriculum map for each grade level group (K-1 & 2-3) will be provided. This curriculum is informed by student data from annual math assessment (provided by the school). The curriculum will include a brief pre- and post-test that can be used to measure students’ growth in the camp. The curriculum will also support the 2017 camp theme of Ecosystems. GAGDC staff will provide an overall design and schedule for the camp to guide curriculum development. Materials will be provided. A culminating activity should be planned so that the students can showcase their math learning on the last day of camp celebration event.
  • Amend daily lesson plansas needed based on student progress. Incorporate the 2-3 STEP-UP fellows that will be assigned to the class to assist with mini-lessons and small group instruction.
  • Mentoring assigned STEP-UP fellows through daily reflection and feedback each week.
  • Collaborate and plan with AG-GOLD camp manager, camp counselors and school administrators

Required Qualifications:

  • CPS elementary classroom teacher
  • ISBE Professional License
  • Proficient rating on annual evaluation
  • Served as a cooperating teacher for university education program student teachers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Endorsement in Math
  • CPS elementary classroom teacher from AG Gold elementary school
  • 3 or more years of classroom experience
  • Distinguished rating on annual evaluation
