Auburn Gresham GOLD Workforce Program Improving Health and Wellness of the Community!

Thanks to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation two-generation grant, the Auburn Gresham GOLD, community driven education program is making great strides. With the generous funding, the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation (GADC) was able to partner with CVS Health and generate a workforce development program for parents of students attending our Auburn Gresham GOLD schools.

Take a look at the joy of our latest parent, who after a successful 4-week paid externship, in a local Auburn Gresham CVS Health store, was offered full time employment, with a living wage salary! Congratulations Shantasia!!! Thank you for going for the GOLD for your family. Our school based education staff and the entire GADC continue to be here to support you! We love your superior work ethic and customer service spirit!

The good news is after two years of planning and putting systems in place, the outcomes of the workforce development activity is producing steady results, of living wage jobs. We could not be more proud of our parents, doing what it takes to ensure a good quality of life, for their children and families.

The AG GOLD intiative's two-generation model, funded by W.K. Kellogg Foundation, also allows us to partner with the Children's Literacy initiative (CLI), a program that is helping our teachers and Principals, have additional professional development, which is a best in class model, proven to help improve the teachers' literacy tools and outcomes that have increased students reading achievement. Thanks to the partnership with the GADC, CLI has even expanded their literacy program in Chicago.

The Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation continues to be extremely grateful to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (W.K.K.F), for their guidance and support on our community driven education initiative. The support has allowed us to continue to implement the model we developed, with Auburn Gresham partners at the table, to begin to move the needle by addressing innovative solutions for education and wealth equity for families, in our community.

W.K.K.F., your belief is our belief...

"When families, schools and communities work together, children have a greater chance at achieving early educational success. Through the work of these organizations, we believe we can empower parents and address the needs of families. That is one of the core components of our work - giving children a strong educational foundation and the chance to reach their full potential." -- W.K. Kellogg Foundation
