SBIF Showcase Dan's Bakery and Eatery - 79th/Southwest Highway SBIF
Dan's Bakery and Eatery, a southern comfort soul food restaurant and caterer has been a staple in the Ashburn neighborhood for 26 years. The family-owned business was able to utilize the SBIF program to expand their dining space, add a new administrative office and make their kitchen operations more efficient. They also beautified the business by replacing their storefront system and adding a new front entry vestibule.
Ms. Ethel Norris, known by locals as "Mama Dan," said the renovations have increased the restaurant's efficiency and improved its productivity, allowing them to serve more dine-in and take-out customers while having an eye towards adding delivery services in the near future. With this modernization and expansion of their business, the Norris' intend to continue their practice of hiring local residents to staff the restaurant.
