GAGDC and Elevate Amp up for Seniors!

Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation’s 2022 Small Accessible Repairs for Seniors (SARFS) program got off to a great start.  GAGDC is one of several organizations that offers free home accessibility repairs for seniors through the city of Chicago’s Department of Housing.  With the first 20 seniors scheduled for application intake, GAGDC was amped up with the collaboration of Elevate.  Since many seniors are living on a fixed income, GAGDC’s Housing and Senior Services team are determined to help our beloved seniors reduce their living costs.    Seniors were asked to bring in their required SARFS documents, as well as their electric, gas, and water bills.  These utility bills were reviewed by Elevate.  Vetia Hill, Community Resource Coordinator, ‘set up shop’ on 79th and Racine and treated every senior with care and respect as she reviewed their bills and offered resources and information on ways they can save.  Elevate’s Community Resource team is committed to help residents make smart energy choices and their homes more comfortable. Elevate is a national leader in the energy efficiency education.  Vetia shared information on how residents can pay less fort their electricity during off-peak hours.  Currently Elevate works with ComEd to administer real-time hourly electricity options.

Because of a dedicated partnership between GAGDC and Elevate, Auburn Gresham, Ashburn, Englewood and Washington Heights seniors will not only receive free safety, security, and accessibility enhancements through the SARFS program, but also save on their utility bills with the information provided by Elevate.  That’s TEAMWORK!
