The Auburn Gresham FREE Tax Site provideS FREE tax help to Families with incomes less than $50,000 and Individuals with incomes less than $25,000. It starts, Wednesday, January 21st!  Come early! Line forms at the GADC intake area, 7903 S. Racine. The DOORS OPEN at 5:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:00am. This FREE service is based on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to come earlier to hold your spot in line. DOORS close when we reach capacity and might close earlier than times posted.

Greetings! Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) held its Annual Meeting and Neighborhood Leadership Awards program, "NHS @ 40: Deep Roots, Still Growing" on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Bridgeport ArtCenter.

The event was attended by over 300 partners, volunteers, community leaders and neighborhood residents.  The evening's program showcased nine Neighborhood Heroes and celebrated NHS' accomplishments.

Lyric Opera of Chicago to Perform at Simeon High

The 19th annual "Opera in the Neighborhoods" tour will be at Simeon, 8141 S. Vincennes Ave., on Oct. 28 for two performances of "The Brothers Grimm. Third through sixth grades at nearby Westcott Elementary, 409 W. 80th St., will walk down the street to attend the performance. Auburn Gresham GOLD school students going for the "GOLD", with the Arts, the past four years!

W.K. KELLOGG FOUNDATION GRANTS $1.9 MILLION TO EXPAND AUBURN GRESHAM GOLD

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation awarded the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) a $1 milion grant to strengthen it's K-3rd grade literacy and family economic development two-generation strategy, Auburn Gresham GOLD (AG GOLD), in several Chicago Auburn Gresham elementary schools. The recent history of Auburn Gresham is somewhat similar to that of the areas that surround it: once predominantly Irish Catholic, the racial makeup of the neighborhood quickly changed in the the 1960s and 1970s when African Americans began moving into the area from surrounding communities.
