Health Fair On The Block May 31st

    Nearly ten years ago, Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation’s (GAGDC) first health fair featured about half a dozen booths in the parking lot, and half of those were from the local health clinic and vendors supporting school based health programs. Now, GAGDC blocks off the street between Racine and May, on 79th Street, and offers free health screenings (glucose and blood pressure), free HIV testing and businesses consisting of pharmacyies, various groups, held healthy food demonstrations, and shared literature and fun giveways to help spread the awareness and knowledge around key health disparities across southside communities, like Auburn Gresham. This year, like many was a scucces because of a key relationship and recurring sponsorship by CVS Health.

    “Typically our health fair is com This year, 300-400 people showed up during the three-hour event, in a community with a population of only about 4,500.

    “People like to do business with people they know and trust,” Mary Bass said.

    Calling all health, insurance and social service partners, there is still time to sign-up to be a vendor at the Auburn Gresham Health Fair on the Block!
