Derric -Artist invites you- S.E. Sculpture unveiling OUTDOOR 9361 S. COMMERCIAL !

Chicago, November 18, 2022 -- Neighborhood artist, Derric Clemmons in partnership with UIC, Great Cities Institute and  Chicago Public Art Group (CPAG), are unveiling a newly completed placemaking sculpture beneath the skyway in South Chicago.  Derric Clemmons is a recipient of the Neighborhood Access Grant funded by The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events ( DCASE).  The sculpture, “Talking Tree”, a three year effort, is made of steel framing with a strong wood surface painted with the ideas of culture, nature, and the South Chicago’s community industrial past.  Student artists and art teachers from the community participated in this community engaged project.

 

The unveiling celebration of the project will be officially unveiled to the public at 10:30 am at 9361 S Commercial Avenue, Chicago, Illinois on Friday, November 18, 2022. ( SKYWAY BRIDGE)
