Opened since May 2005, Double “L” Community Center has become a viable resource to the Auburn Gresham and Englewood communities. They are a Christian nonprofit organization who believes in purpose and destiny. Committed to excellence, the Double “L” Community Center serves as a resource and support system to lift other as the climb to higher levels in knowing and being.

Whether it is through education or providing a safe haven to its customer base, the Double “L” Community Center is dedicated to establishing long term relationships with other service providers in its community to express a “Love of Life.” Their success can be measured by the following accomplishments: 
  • Partnership with Kennedy King College to provide GED classes to more than 75 students
  • Partnership with St. Bernard Hospital to bring Immunization and Physical van to administer immunizations and physicals to the children for their return to school
  • Partnership with Stroger Hospital Mammography van which provided free mammograms
  • Partnerships with local clinics to provide examinations for adults with high blood pressure and diabetes
  • Partnership with DCFS to host parenting classes
  • Partnership with Harold Washington College to host foster parenting classes
  • Partnership with Chicago Housing Authority to feed 50 youth daily in a summer food program
  • Completion of 3 computer classes with over 43 students
  • Distribution of school supplies to over 100 children
  • Conducted Job Readiness Workshops for 30 participants

Mission

To foster and promote revitalization of the community by designing and implementing programs that improve the community’s economic viability; increase availability of quality housing to people of different income levels, while maintaining and improving existing affordable housing; and enhance delivery of social services, particularly to senior citizens.
