OMEE Presents: Broadband Grant Update - The Office of Minority Economic Empowerment is partnering with the Office of Broadband for an informative webinar on the grant opportunities available through their office. The Office of Broadband is responsible for administering the Connect Illinois broadband infrastructure grant program as well as developing programming in the areas of community planning and capacity, building digital literacy, adoption, and inclusion. Currently, the Digital Navigators Notice of Collaboration Opportunity (NOCO) is open for minority stakeholders that desire to be trained as Digital Navigators for their communities. Applications due January 11.

Reconstrucción de Comunidades Afectadas (Rebuild Distress Communities) - El programa de "Reconstrucción de Comunidades Afectadas" apoya a los negocios de Illinois que han sufrido daños a la propiedad como resultado de los disturbios civiles durante las protestas y demostraciones el o después del 25 de mayo de 2020. Rebuilding Distressed Communities Grant Webinar - The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity joined the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives (CNI) in opening the $25 million Rebuild Distressed Communities (RDC) grant program. The program will reimburse the cost of or hire contractors to perform repairs for structural damages, including repairs to storefronts and entrances, improving electrical systems, and restoring exterior work for businesses that experienced property damage in economically distressed communities around Illinois.

Resources for Native American Owned Businesses – Discussion includes: Native American Chamber of Commerce Resources, DCEO Resources, PTACs and the Certification Process, Small Business Administration Funding Opportunities, Buy Indian Act and other procurement resources for Native American owned businesses. Co-hosted by: DCEO's Office of Minority Economic Empowerment, Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), the Native American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, and the National Center American Indian PTAC. These Procurement Technical Assistance Centers are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency.
