Celebrate National Community Development Week (#CDWeek2023) April 10-14!

DCEO and our Office of Community Development are proud to celebrate National Community Development Week (#CDWeek2023) April 10-14! 
Funding from the federal Community Development Block Grant for Public Infrastructure and Housing Rehabilitation allows smaller localities throughout the state to implement critical-need infrastructure projects.  
Illinois Community Development Highlights Include: 
  • In the last 5 years, DCEO has provided over $123M in Community Development Block Grant funding to nearly 350 communities across Illinois.
  • The state leveraged nearly $75 million to provide safe and healthy drinking water and sanitary sewer systems for 167,275 people in 159 communities.
  
  • $33 million was provided to rehabilitate 655 homes in 68 communities. 
  • 425 businesses in 109 communities were provided $8,647,360 in working capital to sustain them through COVID.
