Karen Roberts, born and raised in West Pullman, graduated early from Morgan Park High School and joined the Army National Guard. She rose from Supply Specialist to Brigade Human Resources Sergeant.
Frustrated with mundane military food, she combined culinary skills from her father and grandfather to create innovative sandwiches. In 2006, Karen survived a bullet wound to the neck, which deeply impacted her. Grateful for her survival, she sought to live purposefully and devoted herself to her passion for gourmet sandwiches.
