SSA#32: Urban Green Team | Litter Free Zone Initiative Program

The goal of the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation’s (GADC) Litter Free Zone Initiative (LFZI) is three-fold:

[1] To develop a creative solution to deter littering while improving the appearance of our community.

[2] To change the culture and mindset (starting with the youth as ambassadors) of the residents of the community, by promoting recycling, creating an awareness of the benefits of recycling and the effects of littering.

[3] To use this target area as a pilot program that can be expanded into other parts of the Auburn Gresham Community and the city of Chicago. We expect that this initiative will result in much publicity for this underserved community and will be replicated in other areas.

To foster and promote revitalization of the community by designing and implementing programs that improve the community’s economic viability; increase availability of quality housing to people of different income levels, while maintaining and improving existing affordable housing; and enhance delivery of social services, particularly to senior citizens.
