PBS (WTTW-11) Documentary ISU Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline Higlights AGGOLD

PBS (WTTW-11) documented the work of Illinois State University's Chicago Teacher Education Program, along with Carlos Nelson, exective director, of the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC). The community driven education program Auburn Gresham GOLD (AGGOLD) is being showcased as part of the documentary. 

The documentary showcases students in preparation for becoming public school teachers, students at Illinois State University's College of Education are receiving a full immersion in Chicago this summer. It's called the Summer Teacher Education Partnership for Urban Preparation, or STEP-UP.

The nearly 9-minute segment focused on the College of Education’s Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline (CTEP) and its Summer Teacher Education Partnership for Urban Preparation (STEP-UP) program.

Reporter Lisa Stark interviewed several STEP-UP Fellows, who completed the one-month summer internship prior to student teaching. The Illinois State students live with a host family, collaborate with community-based organizations, and intern with a neighborhood school.
