2021 NBDC Resource Story

Auburn Gresham Continuing to Grow a Collection of New Businesses!
Welcome to the Neighborhood QT&J Collections!

It's contractually our job to give technical support and coaching to new businesses as they decide to take up shop in Auburn Gresham.  As we end the midyear point, we are extremely happy and if we could say humbly proud of the BACP team, when they stated that our 2021 goal should be to continue to help support, retain and grow small businesses, but with a caveat, to build deeper relationships with the businesses. Building deeper relationships with clients has historically been an unspoken rule of engagement for our business support team. During this tough year of recovery, ends up BACP was correct! Our clients especially the new businesses, proved to need the special attention and reassurance as they opened across locations in Auburn Gresham, during the pandemic recovery period.

When a client very familiar with helping us to keep the 79th Street business corridor shared her dream of opening a women's clothing store and that she definitely wanted to open her shop in Auburn Gresham we were ecstatic to help. After reviewing her business plan and discussing the desire to lease a location at 1000 W. 79th husband (a great choice near a coffee shop), with Shaquana Anderson and her the plans were in motion to bring QT&J Collections to reality for another Black and woman owned business.

Consultations outcomes were just a little access to capital support. It ended up the addition of a small grant from the special service area to help with facade and buildout of a beautiful sign to match her enthusiasm was the last of a series of consultations to be ready for an opening. We assisted in any way we could to ensure a successful grand opening, with referrals to other local small businesses in the area such as a photographer, DJ and caterer, as well as to help market on social media. The successful grand opening was even two months’ sooner than Mrs. Anderson Hs planned, to show off a collection of products selected just for the locals.

Grand Opening Annoucement Note from the owner:

Greetings everyone,

My name is Shaquana Anderson. I have a vision that I would like to share with you and the entire community. I am a proud mother, wife, full time employee, and business owner. With that being said, hopefully it will shine light on my personality in which I plan to devote 100% into my dream of not only becoming a business owner but also providing a service along with the most professional service that I possibly can give.

Please allow me to introduce to you “THE QT&J” Collections Boutique, a place where you can find quality goods at the most affordable prices. It may be the gift you need to find for yourself or others or that simple piece of apparel that makes your outfit pop, as well as those accessories that will help make you as special as the event you plan to attend. We are located at 1000 West 79th Street in the Auburn Gresham area. We’re planning our grand opening on Saturday, October 2, 2021, 12-4pm. I would love to thank each and everyone in advance for giving me the chance to set up shop in your backyard and for the opportunity to service the community and become a pillar of strength and also to show and prove what we can achieve and become together. Thanks again, and may God bless us all
